Converted from a 19th-century olive press into a traditional-styled home, this is a superb location for a large group of friends or family. Not only is the villa right on the water’s edge, with all the benefits that it offers, but there’s also a floodlit hard tennis court, a taverna within strolling distance and wonderful views (especially great at sunset).
The interiors are furnished in a traditional coastal style, blending natural materials, neutral colours and fresh sea blues throughout, complementing the surrounding seascape vistas. There’s an incredible circular dining table made from an original grinding stone topped with a sheet of glass, a bar, rustic brick flooring and both indoor and outdoor home cinema.
Lawns separate the houses, interspersed with brick-paved dining and lounging areas that provide a variety of settings for sun worship, chilling out, or sunset drinks. It’s particularly magical to dine by the water’s edge with the candles and lanterns lit up as the sun goes down. There’s a little pebble beach below the house, a swimming pool close to the tennis court, to the rear, and table tennis in the shade of the trees. It’s a very family-friendly property with something for every generation.
The sandy beach of Moraitika/Messogi is less than 3km away. There are a variety of water sports available there, including jet skiing and paragliding. There’s also an 18-hole golf course and waterpark nearby. On the hillside above the villa is the little village of Chlomos, where there are a couple of tavernas and a snack bar. Further restaurants can be found in nearby Psaras and Boukaris. Corfu Town is 23km to the south. It’s well worth taking a day out to explore this charming UNESCO-registered old town, which has Venetian architecture, narrow streets, and a wealth of shops and restaurants.
