Part of a bigger, privately owned property, Little Mongonissi View, is available outside of peak season only but with exclusive use of the grounds. The villa sits on a hillside in the tiny hamlet of Porto Ozias in the most southerly tip of Paxos. There’s a jetty and mooring for a boat just below the house - walk around the bay to a couple of excellent tavernas and a small beach.
Rooms are comfortable, stylish, and filled with the finishing touches that make a house into a home. Whitewashed beams, warm wood or tiled floors, and areas of exposed honey stone walling are complemented by touches of blue or warm caramel in soft furnishings. There’s a well-equipped kitchen, four lovely bedrooms, and a delightful sitting room with a fireplace, shelves with plenty of books, and doors opening to the terrace.
Beneath a pergola, the al fresco dining area is furnished with long tables, wrought iron chairs and paintings on the stone walls. There are many different seating areas, including a spacious lounge facing out to sea, wicker sofas and armchairs in the shade, and inviting sun beds on the decking. An enticing saltwater pool looks over the bay, and on a lower level, there’s table tennis shaded by mature trees and further seating surrounded by greenery.
There are no shops within walking distance, but Gaios is only 3km away. You can find supermarkets, tavernas, bars, cafes, a bakery, a butcher, a petrol station, and many little gift shops here. You can also hire a boat or take an organised trip and visit the famous Blue Caves and Antipaxos.
