Luxury villas in Greece are some of the most stunning, and surrounded by some of the most picturesque scenery in the world. They’ve never been more popular, but luckily for you if you’re tempted, the options are plentiful.
When deciding where to book, even a rudimentary understanding of the vast region is recommended, as the geography varies massively.
Greece evokes visions of sandy beaches, blazing hot sun and mediterranean cuisine and this is of course true, but the different regions and islands each have their own distinctive characters, so it’s good to decide what you’re looking for to limit your options.
First, the islands. There’s well over a thousand, but two hundred or so are actually populated. Of those, the most popular are Crete, Corfu, Mykonos, Santorini and Rhodes, but there are amazing villas to be found on any one of the hundreds of the other more obscure islands.
Everything from restaurant prices to the quality of beaches varies from island to island, but it’s not always the case that the most expensive has the sandiest and longest beaches and so on.
In fact, Santorini and Mykonos are the most extravagant islands; they’re dry and rocky and dotted with white cubic buildings perched proudly across the dark hillside. They’re stunning to behold, but as volcanic islands you won’t get the golden sandy beaches you might be craving.
For a more sleepy affair, more retreat than city break, head to one of the Ionian islands. The most popular is Corfu, but it’s maintained its beauty. As well as lush greenery, this is also where you’ll find some of the best villas and the most spectacular beaches the region has to offer. Together with the familiar friendliness of the Greek people, you’re destined to find your ideal spot.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the best luxury villas in Corfu:
