It's an architecturally interesting house created from the restoration of rustic farm buildings. The innovative use of old and new materials is evident; the waterwheel survives, and the original irrigation pool has been transformed into a spectacular swimming pool. It's a place of both great style and wonderful tranquillity.
Huge glass panels allow light to stream into the house, and glazed concrete floors are draped with cowhides. Antique solid wood doors and rustic stone walls have been retained. There's a cosy living room, a sleek modern kitchen, and a large open dining room with an original fireplace. The two downstairs bedrooms have French doors leading onto the garden. Upstairs, there's one large bedroom with comfortable armchairs and another with a balcony. Bathrooms are sleek and modern.
The vast raised pool is right in front of the house, with aluminium lounge chairs set out on the elevated stone terrace. A little away from the house is an extensive seating area lined with trees on one side and spanned by a garden canopy, which can be covered with bamboo mats for shade. This is a wonderful place for long, lazy dinners. There's a specially designed iron BBQ here too. Further seating and dining areas are beneath the house's covered terrace.
It's home to a trendy restaurant/bar, Molico, converted from an old windmill, with good food and live music. It's a must-visit, as it is close to the property. The village has shops for necessities and groceries and a weekly market on Wednesdays. For a wider variety of shopping, sightseeing and restaurants, Palma is just a 30-minute car journey away. Further south, visit some of the island's fine sandy beaches, including C'an Pere Antoni and Ciutat Jardi. Head west to visit the Tramantuna Mountains, which have incredible hiking and biking routes and amazing views.
