A gastronomer's heaven on the sandy Atlantic coast
The southwestern corner of France is one that is particularly lovely. Its extensive stretch of sandy Atlantic coast is lined with dunes and has waves fit for a surfer’s paradise. Chic beach towns such as Biarritz and Arcachon are where sun-kissed ocean lovers reside with an irresistibly cool cachet. Further inland, the countryside is dotted with chateaux and mediaeval villages, and gorgeous wine regions such as Bordeaux drape the meandering River Garonne. Gastronomic delights come in no short supply here, with fresh oysters, foie gras, and prestigious wines aplenty.
